Spannabis

Spannabis is widely recognized as Europe’s premier and largest cannabis trade show, functioning as a massive cultural and commercial hub that brings together tens of thousands of international consumers, commercial growers, seed banks, and leading industry experts annually. The three-day event acts as a temporary capital for global cannabis culture, combining a massive consumer expo with a business networking forum and a cultural festival. On the main exhibition floor, visitors explore agricultural technology, growing equipment, and cutting-edge products. Alongside the commercial stalls, the event hosts the prestigious Spannabis Champions Cup and the World Cannabis Conferences, where scientists, medical professionals, and legal experts discuss political reform and medical research while live music and performances entertain attendees outside.
The historic expo first launched in 2002 at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, Spain, before quickly relocating to the Fira de Cornellà, which remained its iconic home for over two decades. Over the years, the fair evolved from a niche counterculture gathering into an international powerhouse, occasionally drawing international political attention while simultaneously driving industry progress, such as introducing platforms to highlight female entrepreneurs. By 2017, the fair had expanded to cover 18,000 square meters and welcomed 30,000 attendees, cementing its status as an economic driver and a symbol of the industry's growth.
A major turning point occurred in 2026 when the scheduled demolition of the Fira de Cornellà forced organizers to relocate the festival outside of Catalonia for the first time. Spannabis found its new home at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) in the Basque Country, a region with its own deep-rooted history of cannabis social clubs and activism. Today, the massive modern event stands as a symbol of the plant's journey from an underground, prohibited counterculture into a professionalized, multi-billion dollar international industry.
