Green House

Green House is an internationally recognized cannabis brand founded in Amsterdam by Arjan Roskam. In its own words its widely considered the most awarded cannabis business in the world. The empire spans legendary Amsterdam coffeeshops, a cannabis social club in Barcelona, coffeeshops in Thailand, a global seed bank, nutrient lines, and media production.

Arjan Roskam officially opened his first coffeeshop in Amsterdam in 1992 to showcase genetics that other shops refused to sell. The physical storefronts are central to the brand’s lifestyle identity, known for high-quality product selection, exceptional food, and a high-profile atmosphere. The coffeeshops are also famous for their walls covered in celebrity photos. High-profile guests include Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Eminem, Mike Tyson, and Miley Cyrus.

Beside of the coffeeshops there is the Green House Seed Co., one of the world’s most successful seed banks, offering feminized, autoflowering, and CBD-rich strains developed through decades of breeding.

Green House Brands also produces nutriton, Green House Feeding, a specialized line of nutrients designed to "simplify the growing process for both beginners and professionals".

Not to forget Strain Hunters, together with the late Franco Loja (who was a foundational figure and master breeder for the company) Arjan co-starred in the brand's popular Strain Hunters documentary series until his passing in 2017.

Then there is GH Medical, a Netherlands-based scientific initiative that collects and provides science-based data on cannabinoids, cannabis strains, and their therapeutic applications. It operates as a joint venture between the Strain Hunters Foundation and GHM Europe (the commercial entity based in the Netherlands that acts as a primary parent organization, investor, and operational partner behind the Green House Brands network.). Here we also should mention GHM Botanicals (which oversees the manufacturing and distribution of European Union certified, THC-free wellness products) and GHM International (which handles the business-to-business supply chains, global distribution logistics, and wholesale client relations for the broader Green House seed and medical ecosystems.)

Green House is known for its high-powered, commercial marketing and aggressive, successful expansion. While they have immense commercial success and have arguably brought several strains into the mainstream, some connoisseurs distinguish between their marketing-led image and the work done by original breeders. However, their contribution to global cannabis awareness through their Strain Hunters documentaries is widely recognized.
